Why This Project Exists

Salongie Feng Shui is an independent English-language project for readers who want to understand Traditional Feng Shui beyond simplified explanations, decorative advice, or promises of quick results. The site focuses on how the tradition observes and assesses places: their surroundings, physical form, orientation, spatial organization, changing conditions, and the ways people use them.

The aim is not to establish a school or present Feng Shui through the authority of a master. It is to make a complex body of knowledge easier to approach while preserving the distinctions, context, and ways of thinking that give the tradition its meaning.

How the Material Is Approached

The work here draws on classical sources, traditional methods, long-term study, practical experience, and careful interpretation. Historical periods, terminology, and different streams of practice do not always use the same language or emphasize the same things, so the site tries to make those differences visible rather than flattening them into a single modern formula.

Traditional concepts such as Qi, Yin–Yang, and the Five Phases are introduced in relation to the conditions of a place and the questions Feng Shui is trying to answer. Personal feeling can be a useful clue, but it does not replace observation and assessment. Wherever possible, the material moves from conditions to likely consequences rather than from rules to fixed promises.

About the Author

My interest in Feng Shui began in Taiwan more than forty years ago. One of the early experiences that stayed with me was walking through the countryside with a teacher who asked me to look beyond an isolated feature and follow the larger form of the land. That simple exercise became part of a much longer process of learning how traditional Feng Shui reads relationships rather than separate objects.

Since then, I have continued to study classical texts, learn from teachers in traditional lineages, observe landscapes and buildings, and work with people in real places. For more than twenty years I also practiced Feng Shui consulting. Salongie grew out of that accumulated study and experience, but the website is not intended as a personal school or a catalogue of credentials. It is a place to share what can be explained carefully, translated responsibly, and examined in context.

An Ongoing Project

Salongie remains a work in progress in the best sense: a place for continued study, writing, translation, and clarification. The goal is to help English-language readers approach Traditional Feng Shui with enough context to see both its practical methods and the larger way of understanding place that connects them.
